Hello everyone!
It’s quite common that during your first year of uni, you gain some weight. 
I’m not an exclusion to this.
During my first year, I’ve eaten far too much due to stress, or other contributing factors (ahem… hangovers…) but now it’s the summer holidays, it’s time to get in shape.
This is going to be a running feature. Every monday I’ll post recipe ideas, fitness tips, and generally update you all on how my new regime is going. I’m no expert in the matter (hence being the size I am and my clothes no longer fitting) but hopefully I can offer some motivation and ideas to help along the way.
I’ve stocked up on lots of healthy foods so that I’m not tempted by crisps or biscuits.
Breakfast is apparently the most important meal of the day. I’m guilty of rarely eating in the mornings but it should help set you up for the day and aid in weight loss. 
Here’s a simple and quick healthy breakfast for you to try!
Extremely Healthy and Tasty Porridge
What you will need:
50g of porridge oats
300ml of water
Frozen mixed berries
A banana
Selection of seeds to your preference
(I’m using a mix of omega enriched seeds)

Mix the oats and the water together and pop in the microwave for a minute or 2, stirring every so often. Everyone has their own preference of how they like their porridge so add more or less water as desired.
Whilst the porridge is cooling slightly, put a handful of the mixed berries in another dish and microwave for a minute so they’ve defrosted but are not too hot.
Add the berries, seeds and a chopped banana on top of the porridge and there you have it!
If you want it to be a bit sweeter, add some honey or agave nectar.
This week I’m going to be trying out lots of different smoothies as we now have a NutriBullet in the house. By next week I should have some favourites I can share with you.
Although eating healthily is vital for getting into shape, I haven’t forgotten about exercise. I’m still thinking of fun and free ideas to get me active.

    I remember I definitely put on weight at Uni…hangovers always make me want to stuff my face! Well done on the health kick, I wish I was as motivated…although I'm hoping some of your recipes might inspire me 🙂 It was lovely to meet you yesterday by the way! x
